Rules Update The rules are now, finally, updated.
We've decided to relax the somewhat strict rules of our genre definitions for the SF&F art area. There are now three groups a picture can be put into (A) Clear, (B) Borderline and (C) Non-Genre. Before the change, we rejected most of the type (B) pictures, while we from now on allow up to 50% of them in a gallery.
That's the major change, and details/definitions can be found at the Art Rules Page at Elfwood.
There has also been numerous minor changes, details fixed, typos removed, etc! The rules are better and clearer now.
Many thanks to all moderators who helped me and the ERB to rewrite the rules!
ps, We will allow a 3 month grace period, use this one to add good fantasy/scifi descriptions to your type (B) pictures, please!

Relaxing the rules... We're currently planning to relax the rules regarding non-genre art a little, letting in some art that's not clearly scifi/fantasy into galleries that consist to the majority of scifi art; this is kind of going back to the rules as they were in the early days of Elfwood. I will post more info here once I have finalized the wordings of the new rule. [ Discuss Here!]

Change in rule about "quality" art... We've previously (July-03) decided to not enforce the new quality rules on already present (i.e old) art at Elfwood - but we've now changed our point of view and will actively remove art that does not follow our quality guidelines (See the SF/F art rules page for details on what that means). Rule clarifications online The updated General Rules are now online. The rule clarifications were done by a combined effort of all moderators and complied by Matt Summers and Monica Christensen.
We have also rewritten the rules for SF&F art, FanQuarter and the General rules for all areas!

The "Zone47" removed The area known as "Zone 47" is now removed from the rules section. The "Lothlorien" area is now for both Science Fiction and Fantasy art; and will also loose it's Lothlorien name. This is a step in the merging process, see the merger page for details... [ Discuss Here!]

Webcomic fanarts Where do webcomic fanarts go? Fan Quarter or SF&F? I'm not talking about huge, well-known webcomics such as Inverloch, Applegeeks, etc. I mean small, obscure comics. Intuitively, I'd think they fit in the same category as "friend's character" (I AM f..

Rules Addendums/Changes I was recently notified that over half the pieces in my gallery were "borderline", and were going to be removed. I've looked into the rules regarding this (and had a several page e-mail discussion with a member of the ERB), and I find that the ..

HTML use in Wyvern's Library In the rejection mail of my last story, the moderator said I should not use MS Word to make HTML-files. Since I used Ms Word for all my other uploaded stories, I am a little bit confused. The lay-out of the story looked fine when I hit 'view' so I'm n..

Violence/gore question (SF&F) Two violence/gore related entries in a row... Anyway, I was wondering if this picture would be too gory for Elfwood? http://keiiii.gfxartist.com/artworks/145881 The blob in the foreground is the vampire guy's heart. Since the heart is blurred and..

What should I expect? I've read the rules for graphics and written word, but the line for violence in written work isn't too clear. I've submitted some chapters from a book I'm writing, and the first chapter contains a torture scene in which the torture instruments are gra..
